Apple Fritter Bites

Delicious and nostalgic apple fritter bites perfect for gatherings and fall festivities.

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced apples (Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Combine the melted butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and applesauce in a separate bowl till smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold together.
  5. Add the finely diced apples and mix until incorporated.
  6. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  7. Fry spoonfuls of batter for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Drain fritters on a paper towel and dip them into the apple cider glaze.
  9. Serve warm for the best experience!

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute the egg with unsweetened applesauce or a flax egg.
