Easy Homemade Apple Cobbler

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss your sliced apples with the granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk it together.
  4. Pour in the melted butter and buttermilk. Stir gently until just combined.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer the apple mixture evenly first. Then, dollop spoonfuls of the batter over the apples.
  6. Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  7. Once baked, let your cobbler cool for about 10-15 minutes.
