Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large mixing bowl, then let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Create the dough by adding flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Shape the dough by punching it down and rolling it out on a floured surface.
  7. Assemble by spreading tomato sauce or fresh tomato slices, adding mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, minced garlic, and seasoning.
  8. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Sprinkle fresh basil on top and let it set before slicing.
