Old Time Oven Peach Cobbler

A timeless classic that evokes sweet memories with its warm, buttery crust and succulent peach filling.

  • 4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
  • 2 cups sugar (divided)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Ground cinnamon (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the peaches by peeling and slicing them.
  3. Make the peach syrup by combining peach slices, 1 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of water in a medium saucepan. Cook until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Prepare the batter by whisking together flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt, then gradually adding milk.
  5. Assemble the cobbler by pouring melted butter into a baking dish and then pouring the batter on top. Spoon the peach syrup over the batter.
  6. Dust with ground cinnamon.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can also be drizzled with caramel sauce for added flavor.
